CPAP, or continuous positive air pressure, is a machine that is often used in hospitals for premature babies. The CPAP machines provide continuous low air pressure for premature babies to keep their lungs inflated and prevent collapse. Premature babies have not yet developed surfactants which is substance that prevents the sacs in the lung from deflating. Until the premature baby's lung has been fully developed they need the CPAP machines to keep their lungs inflated.
The final product is limited to maximum of $100 USD and must be able to operate minimum of 5 hours. The CPAP machine must be designed to be accessible to patients in developing countries.
Goal of this project is to create easily transportable device which provides maximum stability and durability at a reasonable cost. Some challenges expected to experience are way of measuring and delivering the accurate air pressure precisely.
